The Packaging and Shipping system is a customized solution that creates a seamless interface in package flow between a client’s picking station and an automated sortation system. Goods are first grouped together via placement on a manual prep station by operators. These products are next run through a series of modules that gap and align the them prior to entry into a carton wrapping machine, where weighing and dimensioning occurs using a DWS system which allows postage to be automatically calculated and a destination label to be printed and applied. The package is routed to a shipping destination using a sorter capable of whatever resolution that best suits the clients cost model, whether it be a three-digit, five-digit, or SCF routing scheme. The Big Output Secondary Sorting (BOSS) System provides an ideal linear shipping or receiving solution for customers that desire the ability to sort small and medium size parcels into high-volume containers. Both modular and scalable, the BOSS system can be configured for a wide variety of feature sets and destination outputs while maintaining a significantly smaller footprint than competing technologies. After various clients came to us needing to maximize the processing of our encoding/OCR/BCR engines, Fluence Automation designed and installed multiple Bulk Dumping & Buffering Systems to create a constant even flow of products. The systems are designed to breakdown the parcel sequence with a series of 90 degree turns which reduce clumping of the parcels. This allows for on-demand delivery and since the system is never “starved” for parcels, productivity is increased and labor need is reduced. The system is designed to not have any manual intervention outside of loading the pallets into the dumper. The dumper goes through a series of pauses to let the product gradually unload and has a sensor to dump the product on demand.
